Is bra necessary?
Yes. Definitely!
Its like a support system for women which reduces discomfort.
Some potential benefits:
Support: One of the primary function of a bra is to provide support to the breast. For a women with larger bust, a well-fitted bra can help distribute the weight of the breasts more evenly, reducing strain on the back, shoulders and neck.
Comfort: A proper fitted bra can offer comfort by providing gentle support and minimizing breast movement, particularly during physical activities or high-impact exercise.
Shape and lift: Bras can help shape and lift the breast, creating a more flattering silhouette.
Posture: Wearing a bra with adequate support can promote better posture by helping to distribute the weight of the breast evenly and preventing slouching or hunching forward.
Medical considerations: In some cases, wearing a bra may be recommended for medical reasons, such as providing support an comfort after breast surgery or during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
BUT..
Do we need to wear bra all the time?
Its a definite No!
Being women, we all would like to agree on one honest answer..
'The best part of wearing a bra is taking it off at the end of the day'
Its completely a liberating comfort after a long day's work with tight clothes packed around our skin. We switch to loungewear when we are at home, but do we go braless at least in our bedtime? It's probably a 'No!'
By going braless..
The soreness and irritation on your skin caused by the wired bras, the bands and shoulder straps eases off.
Our skin likes to breath. Always wearing a fitted bra will never be a good option for our skin.
If all our skin has the rights to breath, why not our boobs?
Wearing a bra all day long can disrupt the blood circulation causing pain in muscles. Bras supporting larger breasts tend to fit tighter on their body. Sleeping without bra helps in better sleep as you can breath easily without any obstruction. So you get good breathing and good circulation
Women who are used to wearing bras for a long time, finds difficult to go braless initially, making them feel exposed. But in the long-run, they feel more comfortable and relaxed. This combination of physical and mental happiness gives a relaxed sleep
For women with larger breast, wearing bra makes the sweat gets trapped in their bustline causing skin irritation
Common Myth:
Going braless makes your breast to sag.
Its not true that bras can prevent breast sagging and not wearing one makes it to sag. It all depends on nature of our body and ageing. Going braless can allow the breast tissue to strengthen and maintain its shape. Moreover when breast are supported by bras all the time, the Cooper's ligaments that hold the breast in place may become weakened. By going braless, the ligaments gets a chance to strengthen.
Can wearing a bra cause cancer?
Many research have been made so far and there is no proper evidence that bras can cause cancer by restricting the fluid drain by the lymphatic system, resulting in a build-up of toxins in the breasts. Tight bras, underwired bras may restrict the blood flow and cause skin sweating and irritation.
So, the final note: To wear it or not?
It all depends on person to person. The most important thing is choosing the right bra for your body type. Choose ones that are supportive rather than suffocating. The support should be on the band and wings, not on shoulder straps.
Avoid padded bras especially in summer as it makes you sweat more. Prolonged use can even give irritation to the nipples, as being very sensitive they tend to become dry.
Sports bra works best for workout, but not throughout the day as it gives a compressed feel.
Women with larger bust definitely need the support of a bra, which can actually alleviate the back and neck pain due to the weight of the breast. Wearing a bra that is too tight may weaken the breast tissues.
Going braless at home or at least at bed time will be a wise decision for your skin and mind. You get a better circulation, better breathing and good sleep. Who wants to wear tight bands when they have nowhere to go and just lounge with complete comfort?
But.. How to?
Its not an easy way to take a step ahead for your self care. Especially in India where we live as a family with elders and younger ones, we literally need to think on whether its needed at all.
But what if, if there is a solution to go braless where you don't need to embarrass yourself.
It will be the most wonderful moment for every women who seeks comfort.
